Whisper Club Makes Bold Debut with Community

Located in Philadelphia's lively Rittenhouse Square, the Whisper Club's debut has garnered rave reviews from local club-goers. Sixty-Five LED screens put on a spectacular light show in the club's sleek interior, while an A-List of top DJs set the tone through the club's powerful, rock-steady sound system featuring Community.
The demanding requirements of night clubs call for a unique audio solution. The need for high-output and high-fidelity with the durability to operate for six to eight hours per night, all without causing fatigue to the customers' ears seems like an impossible task. Whisper has approximately 50 loudspeakers, including 22 on the centrally located main dance floor. The four main clusters that frame the dance floor feature Solutions SLS960 horn-loaded, three-way top cabinets paired with a SBS22 double 12-inch mid bass cabinet. The DJ booth is covered by a pair of iBOX IHP-1296 two-way loudspeakers, with low-end thump handled by an ILF218 subwoofer. Additional fill for the venue's rear bar is provided by two VERIS8's.

In addition to some of Philadelphia's best DJs, Whisper attracts and welcomes the best talent from cities across the United States. VIP areas and special sections give the party crowd whatever atmosphere they desire and wherever they venture inside of Whisper, the music sounds just right. The response to the sound system has been extremely positive. Everyone from the club's owner to the club goers continue to be impressed!

Yakima Valley SunDome Upgrades with Community

Located in Central Washington's State Fair Park, the 6,195-seat Yakima Valley SunDome is an impressive stadium that hosts touring concerts, basketball, wrestling, truck-pulls, trade shows and other regional events. The SunDome's sound system was historically a bit of an Achilles Heel for the venue. Built in the 1990s, at the time it was fairly typical to install center-cluster loudspeaker systems in domed stadiums. Most center-cluster technology is not able to meet the current audio demands for venues like the SunDome. To achieve the volume levels required, the cluster system was causing major reverberation problems within the large concrete environment.
A new distributed audio system was commissioned capable of providing the zoned coverage needed for the venue’s various events, without compromising speech intelligibility or musicality. The new system includes 12 R2-77Z, 4 R2-694Z and 8 R.5HP loudspeakers, in addition to six iBOX I-215LVS dual-15” subwoofers. The weather-resistant R-series, a popular choice for outdoor venues, is also frequently selected by designers for indoor arenas and other reverberant spaces because of its sound projection, pattern control, exceptional clarity and high quality music reproduction. In addition, the system was the first installation to utilize Community’s new dSPEC 226 Loudspeaker Processor which enabled the various speaker types within this difficult venue to be quickly optimized, balanced, and commissioned.
R-Series Powers New Moravian College Sports

The athletes at Eastern Pennsylvania's Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA, returned to school this September to find their familiar Steel Field complex radically transformed. The $2.6 million renovation project created a new state-of-the art sports facility, including an expanded and resurfaced track, a new playing surface, renewed bleachers, a new scoreboard, and a brand new high output full-range, R-Series loudspeaker system.
The college had some very specific requirements for their new audio system. They needed a solution that could be easily configured for a wide range of activities, from football games to track meets and special ceremonies. It also had to enable Moravian's audio engineers to control and direct the sound to prevent it from carrying into homes in the surrounding neighborhood. Sound for the main bleachers is provided by a distributed system of five Community R.5HP loudspeakers, hung across the front of the bleacher canopy and pointed toward the seating area. The track, field, and visitor bleachers are covered by a cluster of three Community R2-52Z loudspeakers, hung at the front center of the main grandstand canopy. An additional R.5HP and R2-52Z were used for additional coverage at the far east and west ends of the grandstand. The new audio system has exceeded Moravian's expectations.

To maintain high intelligibility in the highly reflective environment of indoor sports facilities, loudspeakers need well-controlled dispersion patterns to provide good audience coverage with minimal reflected sound. Community again proved itself a winner by being selected for a number of venues used for the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico
