VERIS Adds Life to Rebirth of Century-Old Church

Founded nearly half a century ago in Northampton Township, Pennsylvania, Saint Bede the Venerable has grown to more than 10,000 parishioners. The church recently underwent a $5 million renovation and expansion, incorporating a classic Italian marble altar, magnificent stained glass, and a new sound system based around Community VERIS full-range loudspeakers.

The new sound system design called for versatility. Unlike some of the more traditional Catholic churches, St. Bede offers a mix of traditional and semi-contemporary services, with a choral and live musical accompaniment, as well as traditional organ and choir. So ultimately the design had to offer more than simply spoken word intelligibility - it had to offer superior musicality as well. The distributed audio system includes 14 VERIS8 two-way full-range cabinets - seven on each side of the seating area, as well as two additional VERIS8 boxes for platform monitors. A pair of Community CPL27's provides monitoring to the choir loft, along with two MVP12M floor monitors. The new sanctuary is nothing short of stunning, with sound to match!
Red Sox Spring Training Steps Up with Community

Boston Red Sox fans were particularly pleased with this year's spring training festivities thanks to the opening of the new Jet Blue Park in Fort Myers, Florida. The 11,000-capacity venue is a striking bit of architecture that affords great views from virtually every seat in the house, and excellent sound thanks to a high-end audio system that includes a selection of Community WET and R-Series all-weather loudspeaker systems.
The new venue's architecture presented a few minor challenges and unlike modern major league stadiums, spring training parks are typically located fairly close to residential areas and achieving a tight coverage pattern is important in keeping the sound away from neighboring homes. Audio for the main covered seating area is provided by a selection of 39 W2-228T loudspeakers, with a single R1-66Z and R2-52Z loudspeaker firing out into the bleachers and berm areas. The Community loudspeakers have excellent coverage patterns which keep the sound in the ball park. And with south Florida getting quite a bit of extreme weather, including wind, rain and monsoons, the all-weather WET and R-Series loudspeakers were an excellent choice.
Community Provides Audio for Offshore Europe Exhibition

Organized by Reed Exhibitions UK, the biennial SPE Offshore Europe conference and exhibition is the largest upstream oil and gas event outside North America. With some 1,500 exhibitors it attracts an audience of around 50,000 visitors, including engineers, technical specialists, industry leaders and experts from all over the world. Held at the AECC in Aberdeen, around 25,000 square meters of temporary exhibition space is created in five giant marquees, and a substantial PA system is required for information and safety announcements.
The audio system for this year's event was based around Community R-Series loudspeakers. A total of sixty-six R.25s were used to provide complete coverage for Halls 1 to 4 and at the main entrance gates. In the four main halls the R.25s were mounted in pairs, spaced evenly along the apex of the steel-framed marquees. The compact size and light weight of the R.25's were a real advantage for fast installation, but their small size did not detract from their robust vocal quality and high SPL. The event organizers noted that it was the best PA they'd ever had for the exhibition, and the loudspeakers will continue to lift the standard of audio quality for their large number of events throughout the coming year.
